Investm. CommitteeBasil Nundwe, Chairman
Mr. Nundwe is a Partner of Aureos Capital based in Zambia and has over ten years of private equity experience, initially gained with CDC managing the Zambia Venture Capital Fund (ZVCF), a US$12.5 million SME private equity fund. During his employment with ZVCF, Basil was involved in deal generation, screening and structuring, investment monitoring, and exiting 12 businesses, yielding a positive return to investors. Basil is currently responsible for building and managing the ASAF portfolio in Zambia and the northern and central part of the Southern African region, including Angola. Prior to joining Aureos, Basil worked with KPMG as a management consultant in corporate recoveries and corporate finance, handling various projects including the privatisation of Agip Petroleum and the restructuring of Zambia’s largest commercial bank, the Zambia National Commercial Bank. Previously, Basil worked as an Associate Partner with Brian Cologhoun Hugh O’Donnell & Partners responsible for operations in Zambia’s copper-belt. Basil holds a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from the University of Zambia, an MSc. In Structural Engineering from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland and an MBA in Operations and Project Management from Golden Gate University, California. His other qualifications include a Certificate in Project Investment Appraisal and Management (PIAM) from Harvard University.
Mr. Giletti is a director of Angola Capital Partners (ACP) and also a director of Banco Africano de Investimentos, a leading private Angolan commercial bank. He has over thirty years banking experience involving primarily structured finance products. In 1978 he joined Bankers Trust Company, where he headed the Energy Merchant Bank focusing on emerging markets structured finance and advisory initiatives in the FSU, Africa, Mid-East, and Eastern Europe. He was subsequently with Union Bank of Switzerland, UBS Warburg Dillon Read, and Standard Chartered Bank, where headed up the African investment banking businesses for those firms. He began his career with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as an economist. More recently he became a non-executive director of Equator Exploration Ltd., an AIM listed independent oil company with involvement in West Africa. Mr. Giletti holds an MBA from The City University of New York, a Post Graduate in International Economics from the University College of London and a BA from Adelphi University, NY.Ted Giletti Deepak Malik
Mr. Malik has a diverse experience in general management, development banking, banking, microfinance, corporate and public finance, project financing, financial restructuring, privatization in emerging markets, mining, procurement, and financial management. His specialization is working with multilateral/bilateral financial institutions, and he also has an extensive knowledge of developing countries. He is the Regional Director for Norfund, responsible for the regional office for Africa, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He also served as the Regional Representative of The Industrialisation Fund for Developing Countries, of Denmark. Previously, Mr. Malik’s vast experience in Africa included his roles as Managing Director of the Development Bank of Zambia, as General Manager of Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines and as Audit Manager for KPMG. Deepak holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Honors) from the University of Delhi, India, and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Jose Carlos Burity
Jose Burity is a Director of Angola Capital Partners (ACP) and also the Head of Credit Department of Banco Africano de Investimentos. He joined BAI in 2004 and was appointed Head of Investment Banking/Structured Finance Department in 2006. Prior to joining BAI he was member of Sonangol's Joint Ventures Management Department, where he was part of the team that supervised the management of Sonangol’s investments in the financial sector. Before his tenure in Angola, he worked in London for Investec Bank and for El Paso Oil Trading Company. Mr. Burity holds an MSc in Banking & Finance from Loughborough University and a BA Hons Degree in Business Economics from Leicester University.
Nic Christoforou Mr. Christoforou has 14 Years experience of Investment Banking roles in Corporate & Structured Finance, involving deal origination & marketing, deal screening, deal analysis, deal structuring. His various transactions involved leveraged & acquisition finance, management buy-outs, and management buy-ins, asset based structured finance, and project finance. He was involved in setting up and running a Private Equity & Venture Capital division with Deloitte & Touché Capital Brokering, establish a special purpose vehicle management company in South Africa on behalf of a Lord Securities Inc, A New York Wall street company involved in structuring and managing of SPV’s of which he was the MD of the South Africa operations. Nic Chrostoforou holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance & Economics from WITS University South Africa, and an MBA in Finance & Entrepreneurship from Bond University Australia.
Executive TeamTiago Laranjeiro, Managing Director
Mr. Laranjeiro led ACP in the preparation and launch of FIPA, the first private equity fund focused exclusively on the Angolan market. He was a member of Norfund’s investment team in Southern Africa as an Investment Manager, having been previously involved in the deals of Norfund’s Direct Investments Department in the region. Prior to joining Norfund, he was a Project Officer for AMSCO, a project of the UNDP under execution by the IFC (World Bank Group). In that capacity, he was responsible for the origination, execution and monitoring of technical assistance projects consisting of supplying professional management and capacity building to private sector client companies in Africa. Tiago initiated AMSCO’s activities in Angola and coordinated the operational structure for project implementation. In addition to Angola, he was also the country manager for Mozambique and for South Africa. Earlier, Tiago also worked for 6 years in the Private Equity and Corporate Advisory departments of Banco Privado Portugues, a Portuguese Investment Bank with headquarters in Lisbon. He is a graduate in Business Management from Universidade Catolica in Lisbon and he received his MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management, with a second year concentration in finance at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Riccardo Bottone, Investment Manager Raquel Serra, CFO
Ms. Raquel Serra joined ACP in 2010. Previously she was part of the investment team of the “SME Capital Growth Fund” a Private Equity fund managed by Banco Espírito Santo. Before that, she worked at the Private Equity Department of Banco Privado Português, with responsibilities in building valuation financial models, portfolio management and treasury, control and budgeting of the SPVs of the Fund. She also provided support to the annual audit of the portfolio companies. Ms. Raquel started her career as auditor at Deloitte & Touche where for 4 years she was involved in sectors such as construction, media, Telecom, aerospace, etc. She has a Degree in Management from Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (I.S.E.G) and a Post-Graduate in Advanced Accounting and Tax from Overgest (ISCTE).
Mr. Miguel joined ACP’s investment team in 2008. He is a graduate from Universidade Católica de Angola with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Mr. Miguel was the top student in his class and has received a merit award of distinction from the University for his outstanding academic performance.
